Narretta

Terms of Service

Last updated 1 November 2026

Narretta is for adults. You must be 18 or over to use it. It's made for parents and other grown-ups: you run the app, and a child may listen to a book you play, but children may not use the app themselves.

These terms are the agreement between you and Advection Software LLC (Wyoming, USA; “we”, “us”) for using the Narretta app and this website. By using Narretta you accept them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.

In plain words

  • You must be 18 or over. Adults run the app; a child may only listen.
  • Use Narretta with books you own, for your own household — like reading them aloud yourself. Don't share, publish or sell what it makes.
  • Narration is made by AI and can get things wrong. You can fix a page and narrate it again.
  • Credits pay for narration. The app shows what each thing costs before you use it, and tells you 30 days before any cost goes up. A plan's credits last three months from the day you get them, even if you cancel.

1. Who can use Narretta

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to use Narretta. Narretta is not directed to children. Children may listen to books an adult plays for them, but they may not use the app, or create, manage or use an account. You're responsible for how the app is used on your devices.

2. What Narretta does

Narretta reads the words on photos of book pages that you provide, and makes a narration of them with a synthetic voice, optionally translated into another language and with background music. We may add, change or remove features over time.

3. Your books, and what you may do with them

  • Books you own, for your household. Use Narretta only with books you own (or are otherwise entitled to use this way), for private listening by you and your household. The audio and text it makes are for that private use only.
  • No sharing or selling. Don't copy, distribute, publish, broadcast, sell, rent or publicly perform the books you photograph or the narrations, translations or exports Narretta makes of them, and don't use Narretta to build a collection of books you don't own.
  • You keep your rights. You keep whatever rights you have in what you upload. You give us a limited permission to store, copy and process it — including through the service providers named in our privacy policy — only to provide Narretta to you. It ends when you delete the content or your account.
  • Your responsibility. You're responsible for the content you upload and for having the right to use it. Upload only pages of books; don't upload anything unlawful, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.

If you believe your copyright is being infringed through Narretta, write to contact@narretta.com with the details and we'll act promptly, which may include removing the material and closing accounts that repeatedly infringe.

4. Your account

The app creates an account for you automatically the first time you open it, without asking for your name or email address. Because that account isn't linked to an email address, signing out or removing the app ends your access to it, and we may not be able to recover the books in it. Keep your device secure: anyone who can open the app on it can use your account.

5. Plans, credits and subscriptions

  • Narrating, translating and some other features use credits. The app shows your balance and what you've used.
  • What each thing costs in credits is shown in the app before you use it, and may change. We tell you in the app at least 30 days before any cost goes up.
  • The free plan tops your account back up to its monthly allowance (50 credits) each month whenever your balance — all your credits, from any plan — is below it, and only by the difference: free credits don't pile up, and leftover subscription credits are used first. The allowance belongs to the phone or tablet, not the account: a device receives it at most once a month, whichever account is using it, so a new account (after reinstalling the app, or deleting your account) on a device that has already had this month's free credits receives them when that device's month is up. Deleting your account leaves the free credits it had left with your device, for its next account; the unused credits of your current subscription period come back once, when you restore the subscription on a new account. Subscriptions add a larger monthly allowance, and a plan's monthly credits don't change for as long as you stay on that plan.
  • Subscription credits are valid for three months from the day you receive them — even if you cancel your subscription. After that they expire, and your history in the app shows each batch that did. Free credits don't expire.
  • Credits have no cash value, can't be transferred or exchanged, and can't be refunded once spent. If a narration fails outright, it isn't charged.
  • Subscriptions are sold, billed, renewed and cancelled through the App Store or Google Play, under their terms. Cancelling is as easy as subscribing: use your store account's subscription settings. Refunds are handled by the store under its policies.
  • We may change a plan's price for new subscribers; if your store asks for your consent to a price rise, you decide. Credits you already hold keep their validity.

6. Acceptable use

Don't misuse Narretta. In particular, don't use it to break the law or infringe anyone's rights; to make content that is unlawful, hateful, sexual or harmful, especially anything involving children; to interfere with or overload the service; to get around its limits or security; or to copy, resell or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows. We may suspend or close accounts that do.

7. AI narration, and availability

Narration, transcription and translation are machine-generated and can contain mistakes — a misread word, an odd pronunciation, a loose translation. Please listen before you rely on them, and fix a page's words if needed. Narretta depends on third-party services and may sometimes be unavailable or slow; we don't promise it will always be available or error-free.

Narretta is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties not stated in these terms, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

8. Our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, and our total liability to you for any claim about Narretta is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim, or US$10 if that is more. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

9. Ending

You can stop using Narretta at any time and delete your account — in the app (Profile → Delete account) or by asking us. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop providing Narretta — in that case we'll give you reasonable notice where we can, so you can export your books' audio.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll give notice on this page, and in the app where we can, before it takes effect. If you keep using Narretta afterwards, the new terms apply.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, except where the law of the country you live in gives you protections that can't be overridden by agreement.

12. If you got Narretta from Apple's App Store

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Narretta or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and — to the extent the law allows — has no warranty obligation for it beyond refunding the purchase price, if any, if Narretta fails to conform to a warranty. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to Narretta, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection claims and intellectual property claims. You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when using Narretta. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
