How to delete it
Option 1 — in the app (immediate)
- Open Narretta.
- On your library screen, tap Profile.
- Scroll to Privacy, tap Delete account, read what will be deleted and tap Delete everything.
Everything listed under What we delete is deleted at that moment, and the app signs out of the account. It can't be undone.
Option 2 — by email
If you no longer have the app, email contact@narretta.com with the subject “Delete my Narretta account”. We carry out the same deletion by hand within 30 days.
- If you've written to us before through Contact support, send it from the email address you gave there.
- If you've never used an email address with Narretta, tell us what you can — book titles and roughly when you made them — and we'll do our best to find the account. Without the app we may not be able to identify it with certainty; in that case we'll tell you. (You can also write from inside the app with Contact support, which tells us exactly which account it is — but if you still have the app, Option 1 is quicker.)
Have a subscription? Deleting your account doesn't cancel it. Cancel it first in the App Store (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or Google Play (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions).
What we delete
Permanently, and in the app at the moment you confirm:
- your account: its identifier and, if you gave us one, your email address;
- all your books: page photos and thumbnails, the words read from them and your corrections, translations, narrations, your own recordings, narrated titles, exported audio files, music choices and settings;
- your credit history and usage events, and your paid and promotional credits (the free credits you have left stay with your device — below);
- your notification tokens;
- the messages you sent us with Contact support.
If you asked by email, we'll confirm by email when it's done.
What we keep, and for how long
- A note that the account was deleted — the date, the account identifier and how many books and files were removed, nothing else — for up to 12 months, so we can show the deletion was carried out.
- Database backups are kept for 7 days, so copies of your data disappear from them within 7 days of the deletion.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics), which carry the account identifier, expire after 90 days.
- Your phone's or tablet's device identifier, in its scrambled form, with the date it last received free credits and the free credits you had left — no longer linked to any account — for 12 months, so that a new account on the same device doesn't receive a new month of free credits early, and starts with the free credits you had left (they go to it the first time it is used; free credits don't expire). Then it is deleted.
- Server logs, which can contain your IP address and account identifier, expire after about 30 days.
- Emails you sent us directly (rather than from the app) stay in our mailbox for as long as we need them to answer you and keep a record of the request.
- An anonymous record of each purchase — the store's transaction identifier, what kind of purchase it was, how many credits it gave and when it was bought, and how many of them were still unused, with no account identifier — so the same purchase can't be credited twice if you restore it on a new account, and its unused credits of the current period come back to that account, once. The rest of our purchase records, and RevenueCat's, are deleted with the account. Apple and Google keep their own under their policies; we never hold payment details.
Deleting only some of your data
You don't have to delete your whole account. In the app you can delete a book, a page, or one language of a book at any time. Deleting a book removes it from your library and deletes its stored page photos, narrations and exported audio from our servers straight away (the app gives you a few seconds to undo first).
